Competitive Landscape

The two top e-commerce platform companies in Africa are Jumia, AG a registered Berlin-based company, and TAKEALOT, which is based in South Africa.

Jumia Technologies, AG

Founded in 2012, Jumia was the first ecommerce in Africa listed on the NY Stock Exchange in 2019. It is among Africa’s best-funded ecommerce having raised $150 million in funding in 2014. However, Jumia is facing the same challenge of unpaved streets in Africa and the last mile problem. With Baw Bab’s  proprietary DAI Infrastructure, we can reach out to more customers that are first-time e-commerce users, thus increasing the user base for Baw Bab.

Takealot

Takealot is an e-commerce website that launched nearly a decade ago and later became part of Naspers. However, it operates mainly in South Africa. Therefore, it has yet to operate in other areas in Africa. With strong connection with the value chain and supplier, Baw Bab can have a strong presence in other parts of Africa to increase its market competitiveness.

Amazon

Even though Amazon has no market presence in Africa, African consumers can order products from Amazon US or Amazon Europe. In contrast, Baw Bab has strong connections with the seller and the value chain supplier to provide the same product with cheaper pricing.

Alibaba

Alibaba has little or no presence outside of Egypt. In contrast, Baw Bab has strong connections with African sellers and suppliers.

Walmart

Walmart Has no e-commerce presence in major markets in Africa.

Kenya Domestic players as Copia, which raised 26m series B last year, Sky Garden, Kilimall, and Africa Sokoni.

Baw Bab has many competitive advantages.
